An Epic Summer Road Trip

An Epic Summer Road Trip

Three friends, cameras, lots of coffee, worship music, and the open road. This Summer I had the joy of getting to travel out west with two of my dearest friends. I got to know Amber through church, and through shooting her and her husband’s engagement photos and wedding, and now God’s taking them four hours away from our little Texas hometown. She introduced me last year to Becky, the sweetest Pennsylvania girl turned Texan, who is about to marry the man of her dreams. So grateful for the opportunity to get to visit Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and West Texas before life takes all of us down different paths.

These girls have been like sisters to me this past year. Always challenging me in my faith and encouraging me to grow closer to Christ. And even after eleven long days on the road together with its share of ups and downs, we’re still the best of friends. Grateful for the daily gifts, big and small, that God brings our way. And the way he orchestrates each area of our lives. Mere photos can’t capture the full story of this trip and all it meant to me. Grateful for a dream come true of a vacation this Summer.

Flashback to Ethiopia 2016

Flashback to Ethiopia 2016

Almost exactly a year ago today, I was standing in the airport in Addis Ababa Ethiopia with so many bittersweet feelings of heading back to the states after 9 days of filming with local missionaries and hearing some of the most amazing stories. Looking back on all my memories, I feel like I have such a different perspective than I did then. As I look back through the photographs, the moments I value the most are different than the ones I blogged last year.

Perfect postcards wannabe shots are nice, but I find so much more joy in the authentic, flawed, and story filled moments. That trip was a catalyst for many mindset and priority changes in my own life, propelling me on a journey in fearless living and daily mission that I am only beginning to explore. Commemorating the wonderful memories by sharing some re-edited snapshots from last year’s trip.

So many smiling faces. Every child I met was such a wonderful miracle, the subject of such a hard but wonder filled story. Emblems of beauty and grace in a messy world. Symbols that the power of God is still moving. I miss you Ethiopia. See you again one day.
